Amy is thrilled to announce she is teaming up with organic flower farmer Erin Benzakein of Floret Flower Farm to host a destination flower intensive on August 24th and 25th in the Skagit Valley of Washington State.
Students will be fully engaged in the bounty of the Pacific Northwest during it's peak season, personally cutting armloads of the freshest flowers grown by Erin herself and deepening their connection to the natural world. Erin will share her passion and practical knowledge of seasonal arranging with students and Amy will bring her extensive experience as a florist and stylist to encourage students to hone their personal style and creative vision.
A brief rundown of the weekend is as follows.
- Friday night welcome party
- Saturday 10am-4pm Students will harvest boundless flowers from Erin's fields and return to a 19th century farm house to create loose, natural hand-tied bouquets with demonstrations and advice from Erin and Amy. Basics of flower photography will be discussed and the teachers will help students learn to capture their work on camera.
- Sunday 10am-4pm Students will return to the farmhouse to master the art of arranging low, lush centerpieces in footed compotes. Small floral accessories such as crown, corsages and boutonnieres will also be made. As a culmination of the weekend, students will create a fully considered long banquet table, preparing everything from linens, candles and flowers. Amy will share her favorite table decorating ideas, and students will enjoy an alfresco meal together to celebrate all of their hard work.
